Dignity in old age: caring for Alka
Help Alka stay in her own home with six months of part-time care.
🇮🇳 Maharashtra, India983 views
I'm caring for my mother, who's 78. After a diagnosis of dementia Alka can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Alka desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Alka worked all of her life as a nurse, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $700 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $60
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $95
• Part-time carer (six months): $545
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

wishing you the best, Nisha. Shared this with my family.
Stay strong. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Wish I lived closer to Gatineau so I could bring a meal. Blessings
Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Please keep us posted. Love from Marrakesh
