Companionship wanted: Piper's crossword puzzles and a cup of tea

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Piper is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Piper, who's 75. Piper lives alone in Vancouver, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives 827 kilometers away. Piper loves crossword puzzles, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Friday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Tarkwa.

    • Keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Vancouver.

      • You're not alone. Your post was clear and honest. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care
