Belo Horizonte

Liberty Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 106 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 143 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $500 goes: • Tools and protective gear: $155 • Native saplings and stakes: $270 • Waste removal and skip hire: $75 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Francisca

Updates from Francisca

Quick update: $127 raised so far (25%). I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Small update. $92 so far, the first invoice got paid this week.
Thank you all. We're at 14% now ($72). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire.

Exceeded expectations
I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.
