Clean water and shade for A Coruña: restoring Union Beach
A neighborhood-led restoration of Union Beach needs $1,950 for saplings and equipment.
🇪🇸 A Coruña, Galicia, Spain990 views
Union Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 31 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 153 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $900
• Tools and protective gear: $420
• Waste removal and skip hire: $570
• Signage and educational materials: $60
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
Updates from Leonardo
Wanted to say thank you properly. 27% funded and I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
Quick update: $421 raised so far (22%). I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Thank you all. We're at 8% now ($154). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

So sorry you're going through this, Leonardo. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Best of luck, Leonardo. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Blessings.
I hope things turn around soon. Love from Milan.
