A Coruña
Union Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 31 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 153 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $1,950 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $900 • Tools and protective gear: $420 • Waste removal and skip hire: $570 • Signage and educational materials: $60 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Updates from Leonardo

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 27% funded and I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Quick update: $421 raised so far (22%). I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 8% now ($154). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

So sorry you're going through this, Leonardo. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
