Clean streets and rivers for Manila: restoring the Pioneer wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Pioneer wetland needs $450 for saplings and equipment.

The Pioneer wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 101 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 162 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $200
• Tools and protective gear: $80
• Waste removal and skip hire: $130
• Signage and educational materials: $40
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Praying for you, Manuel. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
I hope things turn around soon. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
you're not alone, Manuel. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Manila.
sending love. More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Dhaka but we're thinking of you.
