Clean streets and rivers for Corpus Christi: restoring the Lotus canal
Help us clean and replant the Lotus canal before the October planting window closes.
🇺🇸 Corpus Christi, Texas, United States1,399 views
The Lotus canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 77 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 144 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,800 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $590
• Tools and protective gear: $470
• Waste removal and skip hire: $470
• Signage and educational materials: $270
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Do-hyun.
Sure. The biggest one is native saplings and stakes, $590. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Pasig
