Clean streams for Salvador: restoring the Lotus wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Lotus wetland needs $1,000 for saplings and equipment.
🇧🇷 Brazil1,942 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 131 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $530
• Tools and protective gear: $165
• Waste removal and skip hire: $230
• Signage and educational materials: $75
Thank you so much.

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Madurai
Hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best
Good luck, Caio. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care.
Hope it all works out, Caio. Great idea, hope you get there. Please keep us posted
