Clean streams for Riverside: restoring the Maple hillside
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Maple hillside needs $2,650 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world183 views
The Maple hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 33 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 67 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $195
• Tools and protective gear: $790
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,665
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Wishing you the best, Nolan. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
is signage and educational materials the biggest cost or is there more coming?
Good luck. Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in New York but we're thinking of you.
Rooting for you, Nolan. Great idea, hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
