Clean streams for Entebbe: restoring the Jacaranda riverbank
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Jacaranda riverbank needs $200 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world630 views
The Jacaranda riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 113 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 96 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $30
• Waste removal and skip hire: $100
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Love from Dwarka.
you're not alone. Gave what I could, wish it was more!
Hang in there, Halima. Great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
Thinking of you and your family, Halima. More neighborhoods should do this. My neighbor in Medan donated after I showed her your page. Blessings!
