Clean air and water for Seoul: restoring the Jacaranda wetland
Volunteers are restoring the Jacaranda wetland in Seoul; $850 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Jacaranda wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 56 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 166 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $850 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $125
• Waste removal and skip hire: $510
• Tools and protective gear: $215

Thank you all. We're at 4% now ($30). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire.
We're at 4% thanks to 2 of you. I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts. More news soon. - Ki-tae

Keep going, Ki-tae. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
