Clean air and water for Saint Petersburg: restoring the Lotus wetland
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the July planting window closes.
🇷🇺 Russia763 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 113 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 165 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $550 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $170
• Tools and protective gear: $135
• Waste removal and skip hire: $180
• Signage and educational materials: $65
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Saint Petersburg.
Thinking of you and your family. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Takoradi.
Looking forward to the next update. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Entebbe.
Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 8 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless.
More neighborhoods should do this. My neighbor in Lyon donated after I showed her your page
