Clean air and water for Rome: restoring the Unity hillside
Volunteers are restoring the Unity hillside in Rome; $1,500 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇹 Lazio, Italy990 views
The Unity hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 104 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 81 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,500 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $590
• Tools and protective gear: $470
• Waste removal and skip hire: $300
• Signage and educational materials: $140
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Wishing you peace, Vincenzo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
How is Vincenzo doing now?
Wishing you the best, Vincenzo. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Rome.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Vincenzo?
Sending strength. Hope this works out for you. Love from Munich!
Hang in there, Vincenzo. Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
This could happen to any of us. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too
