Clean air and water for Fresno: restoring the Pioneer hillside
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Pioneer hillside needs $2,350 for saplings and equipment.
🇺🇸 United States1,864 views
The Pioneer hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 117 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 117 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,500
• Tools and protective gear: $410
• Waste removal and skip hire: $300
• Signage and educational materials: $140
Thanks for being kind about this.

so sorry you're going through this, Lucy. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care
Take care, Lucy. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day
Wishing you peace, Lucy. Shared this with my family. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from San Antonio
Thinking of you, Lucy. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. God bless.
Hang in there, Lucy. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 20 years in farming I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Love from Epe
