Christopher is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in social work at Los Angeles University, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,150. The registrar has said Christopher can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Christopher has a 3.8 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Christopher would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Christopher isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Los Angeles University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $2,150 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $90 • Exam and lab fees: $115 • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,945 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Christopher.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. textbooks and materials comes first ($90) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Los Angeles.
