Cedar Park needs a sensory garden for children with autism - Balaji's neighborhood project
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at Cedar Park that will serve 130 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world362 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 130 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $165
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $75
Every share and every dollar helps.

How is Balaji doing now?
Thinking of you, Balaji. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Balaji
Hope things get better soon. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Blessings.
Hope it all works out, Balaji. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope December is when things finally get easier.
