Cataract surgery for Skylar: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Skylar was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Skylar was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in May. The surgeon at Anaheim Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,600 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Anaheim Community Hospital since May. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Skylar struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Skylar won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
