A ramp for Sophia: volunteers and tools needed
Help Sophia regain independence: a simple ramp build.
🇬🇧 London, England, United Kingdom293 views
Sophia has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Sophia can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Sophia's family will cook lunch for the team.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

thanks for sharing this, Derek. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Mumbai so I could bring a meal. All the best
rooting for you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Berlin
Sending love, Derek. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 6 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of London.
Best of luck. Hope you get there. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless.
