Hialeah
I live with multiple sclerosis. My occupational therapist at the Hialeah Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,650. My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 10 weeks. With the right equipment I could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $6,650 goes: • powered wheelchair: $6,000 • Fitting and training sessions: $300 • Delivery and set-up: $115 • First-year servicing plan: $235 Glad we found this place. - Bennett

  • keep going. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Hialeah.

    • Stay strong, Bennett. Hope this works out for you.

      • this could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Derry but we're thinking of you
