I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at Naivasha Polytechnic, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $550. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.8 average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Naivasha Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $550 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $220 • Final term tuition: $280 • Exam and lab fees: $40 • Textbooks and materials: $10 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Beatrice

Thanks for sharing this, Beatrice. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
