ACL reconstruction for Elżbieta: covering what insurance won't
After a hernia that has become strangulated, Elżbieta was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Elżbieta was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in August. The surgeon at Gliwice Regional Medical Center recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,800 short.
my mother has been in and out of Gliwice Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Elżbieta struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Elżbieta won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $980. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. I'll keep the page updated.
