A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Mumbai
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Cedar health centre yard that will serve 250 neighbors.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India1,396 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 250 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Materials: $460
With deep gratitude,
Moumita

Thinking of you. Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
hang in there, Moumita. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Nairobi.
So sorry you're going through this, Moumita. This could happen to any of us. Don't give up. Love from Moscow.
