A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in A Coruña

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $490, and the remaining cost is $1,900. It will serve about 523 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,900 goes: • Materials: $980 • Permits and inspections: $270 • Safety equipment and signage: $270 • Tools hire and delivery: $380 Every share and every dollar helps. - Abril
