I'm writing for my neighbor Martine, who's 89. Martine lives alone in Saint-Étienne, and lost a son last year. The nearest family lives several hours away.
Martine loves knitting, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Thursday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.

Best of luck, Noémie. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Saint-Étienne.
