A weekly visit for Iulian, 80, who lives alone in Cluj-Napoca

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Iulian is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Iulian, who's 80. Iulian lives alone in Cluj-Napoca, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives several hours away. Iulian loves old films, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  • Hope the doctors have good news. My neighbor in Lahore donated after I showed her your page. Take care

    • Sending good thoughts, Camelia. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Love from The Hague.

        • Hope things get better soon, Camelia. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
