For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 208 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $600 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $130 • Materials: $425 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

    Changed my perspective

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.
