We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $2,150 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,150. It will serve about 304 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,150 goes: • Materials: $1,350 • Permits and inspections: $280 • Safety equipment and signage: $165 • Tools hire and delivery: $355 Thanks for being kind about this. - Jennifer

  • so sorry you're going through this, Jennifer. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care
