A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Corpus Christi
Volunteers in Corpus Christi are raising $3,750 for a solar-powered water pump at the Cedar vacant lot.
🇺🇸 United States2,611 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,750.
It will serve about 543 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,750 goes:
• Materials: $2,500
• Permits and inspections: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $460
• Tools hire and delivery: $420
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

thinking of you and your family. Looking forward to the next update. Don't give up. All the best
Keep going, Ga-eun. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 10 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything
Thinking of you and your family, Ga-eun. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Sending love. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Corpus Christi.
Thinking of you. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Boulogne-Billancourt.
Sending good thoughts, Ga-eun. Shared this with my family. Don't give up. Take care.
