A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Tuxtla Gutiérrez

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 346 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $50 • Permits and inspections: $75 • Tools hire and delivery: $175 Thank you for reading my story.
