For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,150. It will serve about 528 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,150 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $350 • Safety equipment and signage: $480 • Permits and inspections: $320 Glad we found this place.
