A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Rome
Volunteers in Rome are raising $3,000 for a skate park at Acacia Park.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 259 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Materials: $2,500
• Permits and inspections: $140
• Safety equipment and signage: $230
• Tools hire and delivery: $130

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($2,500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
