A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Miami
A community-led a skate park at the old Harmony bus depot that will serve 492 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $4,850.
It will serve about 492 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,850 goes:
• Materials: $3,900
• Permits and inspections: $280
• Safety equipment and signage: $290
• Tools hire and delivery: $380
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

So sorry you're going through this, Donna. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Miami.
