A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Juiz de Fora
Volunteers in Juiz de Fora are raising $1,200 for a skate park at the Unity community hall.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $260, and the remaining cost is $1,200.
It will serve about 292 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Materials: $930
• Permits and inspections: $125
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Thanks for sharing this. Shared it with a few friends. Wish I lived closer to Manila so I could bring a meal. God bless.
Sending good thoughts, Ronaldo. Shared this with my family. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Hamilton.
best of luck, Ronaldo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Wishing you the best. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Thinking of you and your family, Ronaldo. This could happen to any of us
