A service dog for Hellen, an air force veteran in Nairobi
An air force veteran in Nairobi needs help with a first month of rent and transport to job interviews after leaving service with hearing damage and PTSD.
🇰🇪 Kenya1,282 views
Kioko served six years in the air force and was discharged in 2023 with hearing damage and PTSD. He has been waiting eleven months for support, and meanwhile is sleeping at a brother's place.
The plan: a first month of rent and transport to job interviews. The quote comes to $500.
Kioko is receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and is committed to recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces.
I'll post invoices, with personal details hidden.
Where the $500 goes:
• Housing deposit and first month: $250
• Essential household items: $55
• Training provider fees: $195
Thank you so much.

Hang in there, Hellen. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
Good luck. Looking forward to the next update. Put this on a community board in Guadalupe this morning. Thinking of Nairobi.
Wishing you the best, Hellen. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
