A sensory garden for children with autism for the Pioneer vacant lot: help our neighbors in Rome
Volunteers in Rome are raising $2,700 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Pioneer vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,700.
It will serve about 329 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• Materials: $2,250
• Permits and inspections: $75
• Safety equipment and signage: $180
• Tools hire and delivery: $195
