A sensory garden for children with autism for the Freedom community hall: help our neighbors in San Jose
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $2,800 for materials.
🇺🇸 San Jose, California, United States1,079 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 167 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,800 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
• Tools hire and delivery: $240
• Materials: $2,430
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
