Dehiwala
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Park, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $400. It will serve about 137 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $400 goes: • Materials: $280 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 If you're reading this, thank you. - Ishara

  • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Ishara?

    • hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My husband and I read this together.

      • Take care. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
