A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Barranquilla
Volunteers in Barranquilla are raising $550 for a sensory garden for children with autism at Baobab Park.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 309 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $310
• Safety equipment and signage: $115
• Tools hire and delivery: $125
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
