A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Manchester
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Harmony health centre yard that will serve 455 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,150.
It will serve about 455 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Safety equipment and signage: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $455
