Keep a roof over Lola's head in Lagos
A divorce left Lola short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇳🇬 Nigeria1,997 views
When my hours were cut in half in January, Lola fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $300.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by April, the family must leave.
There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Lola has started working night deliveries, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $300 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• Late fees and court costs: $60
• Rent arrears (3 months): $215
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
- due date
- 2026-04-09
- bill type
- Rent arrears

how is Lola doing now?
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
Good luck. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Wishing you the best, Isaac. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. We're a small family in San Jose but we're thinking of you. Greetings from San Jose!
