Build a wheelchair ramp for Craig in Durban

Help Craig regain independence: a simple ramp build.

Craig has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Craig can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Craig's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Good luck. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. God bless

Thinking of you, Kamini. Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 20 people at work

      • Hope things get better soon, Kamini. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Seoul.
