A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Guarulhos
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $1,150 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,150.
It will serve about 525 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Materials: $800
• Permits and inspections: $90
• Safety equipment and signage: $115
• Tools hire and delivery: $145
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Rooting for you, Pedro. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
