Need strong backs and a van: moving Gonzalo to safer housing

Gonzalo has found a safe new apartment in Bogotá and needs help moving heavy furniture on Friday.

After a break-in at the old place, I found a safe, affordable apartment in Bogotá, and the lease starts on Friday. I have a teenager and a toddler, a few pieces of furniture and no money for movers. I'm hoping for anyone with a van for about four hours. If you have a van or pickup, that would help enormously - I'll cover fuel. The old place is on the fourth floor walk-up and the new place has just one flight of stairs. We'll do it in two trips. Lunch and cold drinks are on me. I know this is a lot to ask of strangers. I'd be happy to share references from my landlord and my employer. Thank you so much.

                    • Hang in there, Gonzalo. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from São Paulo.

                      • Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. After 18 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
