For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $400. It will serve about 122 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $400 goes: • Materials: $220 • Permits and inspections: $55 • Safety equipment and signage: $60 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 Glad we found this place.
