A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Tokyo
Volunteers in Tokyo are raising $1,600 for a sensory garden for children with autism at Pioneer Primary School.
🇯🇵 Japan661 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,600.
It will serve about 517 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $310
• Safety equipment and signage: $270
• Materials: $1,020
Thanks for being kind about this.
