A repair café workshop for the Freedom health centre yard: help our neighbors in Miami
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Freedom health centre yard that will serve 278 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Miami, Florida, United States1,426 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,650.
It will serve about 278 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $430
• Materials: $1,000
• Tools hire and delivery: $220
I hope life is good to you.

I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Santarém so I could bring a meal. Love from Oakland.
Sending love, Stella. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Take care
Hope things get better soon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Miami.
Sending good thoughts, Stella. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Sending strength, Stella. Hope you get there. Blessings
