A repair café workshop for the Baobab vacant lot: help our neighbors in Chennai
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Baobab vacant lot that will serve 436 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 436 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Materials: $530
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
