A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Fort Collins

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,600. It will serve about 495 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,600 goes: • Materials: $2,550 • Permits and inspections: $400 • Safety equipment and signage: $130 • Tools hire and delivery: $520 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
