A rainwater harvesting system for the Lotus vacant lot: help our neighbors in Nairobi
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $400 for materials.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $70, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 462 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
