A rainwater harvesting system for the Lotus vacant lot: help our neighbors in Madina
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $350 for materials.
Anywhere in the world559 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 533 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $190
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
Thanks for being kind about this.
Updates from Prince
Thank you all. We're at 27% now ($95). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward permits and inspections.
